Anky Saddles

The ANKY® Close  Contact Saddle was created for a close bond between rider and horse and is composed of premium, ultra-soft English leather.

The cut-away style at the front of the saddle supports the horse’s natural mobility and provides lots of freedom for the horse’s shoulders and spine.

For optimal saddle stability, the saddle has a three point V-girthing system.

The saddle has a simple change gullet system for fitting all horses . The tree is made of lightweight carbon fibre.

The Anky saddle was Created with Anky van Grunsven in close cooperation. The Anky saddle is   a deep, supportive dressage saddle that is not constrictive. There were at least two types of the Anky saddle, which she initially created for her private use before selling, the Anky and the Salinero Saddles commercially.

The panels use an AMS panel technology, which is intended to evenly distribute pressure and absorb concussions. The AMS panels can be adjusted and re-flocked just like a conventional saddle packed with flock. This saddle has a changeable gullet system.

Girthing is a y configuration and this y-axis guarantees proper girth alignment.

Who is Anky Van Grunsven and why would I want her saddle?

Anky has participated in 7 straight Olympic competitions, beginning in Seoul in 1988 and ending in London in 2012.

In The Hague in 1994, Anky won the title of World Champion Freestyle. Nine times, she took home the World Cup title. Her freestyle music, “Bonfire’s Symphony,” was used for the first time in Hollywood in 1995. She achieved victories in Gothenburg (1996),’s-Hertogenbosch (1997), Dortmund (1999), and’s-Hertogenbosch once more (2000). She rode the Bonfire for all of these finals. Anky and Salinero triumphed in the World Cup Final at Düsseldorf, Las Vegas, Amsterdam, and’s Hertogenbosch in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2008, respectively.

Theodora Elisabeth Gerarda “Anky” van Grunsven, a Dutch dressage champion and the only rider to win the same competition at three consecutive Olympics, was born on January 2, 1968. She has won multiple medals at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in addition of her Olympic victories and is the only rider to have participated in every WEG since they first took place in 1990. She competed in dressage at the Games from 1990 through 2006, but in 2010 she was nominated to the Dutch reining squad, signalling a significant shift in the sport. Despite the fact that Anky has ridden a variety of horses throughout her career, Bonfire and Salinero have taken home the majority of her top championships. She achieved many of her early accomplishments with Bonfire, who was retired in 2002. Salinero rapidly took over as the leading horse and held that position until his retirement in 2013.
